In the 10/30 tilt against the Pittsburgh Penguins, John Gibson found himself scrambling about trying to keep the puck out his net. What’s worse, is that Sidney Crosby was hovering around the faceoff dot, all alone.
As fate would have it, but puck found it’s way to Sid and he buried it home.
Or so he thought.
Gibson manages to spin around and bat the puck out of mid-air, in a ninja-esque move. However, the spectacular save appears to have cost him some HP in his back. As in the video, Gibson immediately goes down and leaves the game, never to return.
Rough Start, Tough Break
Statistically, Gibson hasn’t been so hot the past couple of years in Anaheim. On top of that, there are far too many games where a couple pucks get through, and he looks completely dejected and checked out of the game.
Maybe, this could be a blessing in disguise for the Ducks.
Gibson, who has only one win this season, has no timetable on the extent of his injury. This could present an opportunity for Lukas Dostal to get in more games than expected. And should Gibson miss more than the upcoming Wednesday game against the red-hot Arizona Coyotes, we may see either Alex Stalock or Calle Clang get some action!
